General Requirements: These are seasonal positions with the duration of employment typically lasting from late-April or early-May to mid-August. The position involves independent field work with extensive travel. Overnight travel is required and transportation during work activities will be in a state provided vehicle. Overnight travel accommodations are in state paid for hotel rooms. There is a daily meal per diem of up to $40 ($6 for breakfast, $14 for lunch, $20 for dinner).
Western South Dakota (Rapid City or Spearfish)
Northeastern South Dakota (Watertown or Aberdeen)
Eastern South Dakota (Brookings or Vermillion)
Central South Dakota (Pierre or Huron)
Job Duties May Include:
Measuring water levels in state-owned observation wells.
Data recording on a tablet running Android-OS.
Assist in quality assurance/quality control for observation well network.
Downloading data from electronic recorders using an Android-based tablet or Windows-based PC.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to drive a car or light truck, and be willing to travel.
The applicant must be capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor outdoors in a variety of weather conditions on uneven terrain (e.g. road ditches).
Please note this is a temporary or seasonal, non-benefited position, exempt from civil service.
