Operates, maintains, and repairs a variety of light and heavy equipment used for roads and grounds maintenance tasks and snow removal operations at the Pease Air National Guard Base.
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and vice versa. Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high‑school completion, specifically operating and maintaining snow and trail conditioning equipment such as snow‑grooming tractors, bulldozers, front‑end loaders, ATVs, and other heavy equipment. Valid driver’s license. Other Requirements
Successful completion of a State Police background check. Good physical condition and ability to perform heavy lifting. Availability to report at job site or be on standby during emergency situations, such as snow and inclement weather; overtime during snow removal operations is mandatory. Trainee status available for candidates with 1+ years of relevant education and experience after high‑school; trainee must be hired into the position within one year. Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating heavy equipment, knowledge of diesel‑powered equipment maintenance, and possession of a Class A or B commercial driver’s license. After‑Hire Requirements
Pass a National Agency Check to obtain a Common Access Card within 12 months of hire and continue to meet renewal conditions. Career Advancement Opportunities

Trainee status shall be overseen by a qualified individual and must meet minimum qualifications within one year. Responsibilities
Operate complex equipment and attachments (e.g., Oshkosh with rollover plow or blower, Oshkosh snow blowers, Timco sweeper, 20‑foot snow pushers, loaders, sanders) for snow and ice removal on airfield, roads, and parking lots. Perform specialized mechanical maintenance and repairs of assigned equipment, including mounting and removing plows, chains, plow shoes, and cutting blades. Operate light‑duty equipment such as snow blowers, shovels, saws, mowers, trimmers, and rakes for grounds maintenance tasks: removing snow from walkways, chipping brush, trimming trees around 219 acres of fence line, and mowing/raking 260 acres of lawns. Provide hands‑on training for new personnel and refresher training for existing personnel on snow removal equipment. Assist in construction projects: sealing and patching road surfaces, maintaining and repairing concrete and asphalt pavement, cleaning catch basins, and removing debris basewide. Collaborate with in‑house personnel or contractors on emergency repairs to base underground utility systems. Operate dump trucks, backhoes, and excavators to find, expose, repair, and return utilities.
