Job Summary: Organize and support the outfitting of approximately 100 new trucks annually being onboarded into the Messer Private fleet. Outfitting, also referred to as upfitting, is the installation of all Messer specialty equipment that is unable to be installed by the truck OEM on the assembly line. This process at Messer Chattanooga includes prototyping the first new units built each year, documenting the outfitting procedure, establishing material requirements, completing the process on about 12 regional based units, sourcing the required materials, and creating shipments to outside upfit shops. This role will also have responsibility to oversee and complete the rebuilding of identified major components used in the fleet where a rebuilt exchange program is currently in place, such as hydraulic coolers and power take‑offs.

Principal Responsibilities
Lead Upfit Team personnel and manage work and material assignments efficiently.
Serve as Upfit Team Quality Control lead ensuring completed Chattanooga tractor upfits meet Messer quality standards.
Maintain the Upfit Team’s work area, organizational tools, and personnel safety readiness per Messer LLC policies.
Prototype the outfitting process on approximately 4‑6 new trucks annually to establish specific requirements and procedures, including PTO‑driven Messer unloading systems.
Complete the outfitting of about 35‑40 new trucks annually to become the Subject Matter Expert for the installation of Messer‑specific modifications.
Create documented procedures for the outfitting and modification performed on new trucks and trailers.
Establish material needs and create purchase orders for all materials required to support outfitting of ~100 new trucks annually.
Conduct initial vehicle reception condition inspections and document any deficiencies.
Maintain spare parts inventory as required to support efficient and timely completion of truck outfitting and material shipments supported by the Chattanooga trailer rehab facility.
Develop working relationships with outside shops to optimize the in‑service time of new trucks.
Supply specialty parts to bulk locations as needed to reduce equipment downtime.
Support the material supply of spare parts for the upfitting of new tractors annually, including order creation, procurement, packaging, and shipping to upfit shops.
Assist other locations with technical support when possible to ensure correct materials are requested for the current issue.
Create Excel spreadsheets to build Bill of Materials or kits for major projects.
Manage and address requests from outside upfit facilities performing contracted work on Messer tractors.
Complete rebuilding of hydraulic coolers and redeploy into fleet.
Additional duties directed by the Refurbishment Shop Manager.
Required Skills

Minimum 2 years of Class 8 Truck Maintenance & Repair experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Trade School – Plus.
