Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Columbus, Ohio.
We want the right Maintenance Repair Mechanic to join us at Ryder to work on Heavy Duty Vehicles.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $24.50 per hour
Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays you up to $500 Every Quarter – Four Times Per Year
Sign On Bonus: Ryder pays you $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
Schedule: Tuesday‑Saturday
Hours: Second Shift Tuesday – Friday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
Basic tools, required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work
Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
Perform preventive maintenance
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
Identify root cause of basic failures or conditions and perform repairs as required
Replace defective components as instructed
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of a complaint once assigned a task
Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required to support operations, such as service island support
