Position Summary The TH Instructional Support Assistant is a valuable member of our team, responsible for administrative and quality assurance support functions for the Laboratory Administrative Office. The office centralizes Regulatory, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Legal and Fiscal functions for the Department of Laboratories. These functions are critical for the ongoing clinical laboratory permitting processes so it may continue to act as the Clinical Laboratory for Stony Brook University Hospital. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties

Under the direction of the Laboratory Quality Systems Manager, complete the Excel spreadsheets crosswalks comparing the most current CAP and NYS DOH CLEP checklists to the previous checklists noting the new additions/revisions and the necessary policy/procedural changes for implementation.

Assist the Quality Systems Manager with revisions to the Provision of Care Policies and Procedures and facilitate updates/revisions of policies working with the appropriate contact person as needed.

Assist in coordination of the Mock Inspection program in all laboratories to ensure all labs are in compliance with NYS DOH Standards and CAP checklists.

Sort and distribute inter‑office mail.

Track and file all personnel documents such as licensures, performance programs, evaluations per established SBUH Policies & Procedures.

Assist with the preparation of various reports and presentations for the Laboratory Administrative Office.

Perform other office support and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent college credits.

Competency with computer applications, e.g., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Excellent interpersonal and written skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Enrolled in Clinical Laboratory Science Program or NYSED licensed Clinical Laboratory Technician.

Prior clinical laboratory experience or experience in an academic medical center.

Knowledge of laboratory regulatory agencies such as NYSED, NYSDOH CLEP, CAP, FDA, ASHI, and knowledge of quality assurance functions.

Compensation Anticipated pay range: $21.85 per hour. Salary will be based on validated years of comparable experience. SBUH provides generous leave, health plans, and state pension benefits.
