SUMMARY
The position is a seasonal position with a stipend. The role of the head coach is to be responsible for leading the team and provide a program standard for sub-varsity levels, character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a higher level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. This job requires you to interact thoughtfully and respectfully with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents and community and follow the mission of our school. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship. Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the team. Ownership and Management of Varsity and Sub-Varsity programs. Recruit and manage staff of assistant coaches. Build and foster an inclusive, positive culture that promotes sustainable success. Assist in determining game strategy based on the team’s capabilities. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions and while on trips off school property. Always encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation. Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, facilities, and including protecting students from hazing / bullying. Maintain and secure all facilities, equipment, and uniforms. Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury. Represent Bishop Moore Catholic and the program in a professional manner. Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the varsity head coach and Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator. Establish a relationship with partner school students, coaches, and athletic directors. QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of experience coaching high school / collegiate team sport. Prior collegiate or professional playing experience preferred. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, opponents, staff, parents and students. Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Knowledge of NFHS and FHSAA rules. Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Positive role model and BMC Ambassador for all constituents. CATHOLIC FAITH
