This position works rotating shifts including days, nights, and weekends. High call volume and a fast‑paced environment are part of being a City of Grants Pass Police Officer.

Compensation & Incentives

Base salary

Associate Degree 2.5%

Bachelor Degree 5%

Second language 1.25%

DPSST Intermediate Certificate 2.5%

DPSST Advanced Certificate 3.0%

Note: Associate Degree is not cumulative.

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of work experience are required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.

Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.

Meet physical standards as set by the Department of Public Safety on Standards and Training (DPSST).

Valid driver’s license, with the ability to obtain an Oregon Class C driver’s license within 30 days of employment.

DPSST Basic Police Certificate following completion of training, within 12 months of employment.

Law Enforcement Data System Certificate within 60 days of assignment.

Must pass ORPAT (physical ability) and firearms requirements prior to graduation at the Oregon DPSST Police Academy.

Residency requirement: Must reside within forty‑five minutes of City limits as it exists within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).
