The Department of Mathematics at Tulane University invites applications for a teaching postdoctoral scholar to work in the research group of Prof. Samuel Punshon‑Smith.
The research will focus on the mathematical analysis of stochastic models, particularly in areas related to fluid mechanics, stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs), dynamical systems, and ergodic theory. The successful candidate will investigate the long‑time behavior of these systems, with an emphasis on topics such as mixing, the emergence of turbulence, regularization by noise, and the study of Lyapunov exponents.
This is a teaching postdoctoral position, and the appointee will be expected to teach two mathematics courses per year.
The appointment is for one year and may be extended on an annual basis for up to a total of three years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. The position is expected to begin in the Fall of 2026, but a later start date is negotiable.
