Accounts Payable Clerk – Mississippi Department of Employment Security
Join the Mississippi Department of Employment Security as an Accounts Payable Clerk. This role focuses on accurate handling of purchasing and accounts payable matters within the Department.
Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a business-related field (required)
Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in Accounts Payable and/or governmental accounting (required)
Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and proficiency with computer data entry
Capability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds to move and unpack equipment
Ability to climb ladders, maintain a driver’s license, and be insured to operate district vehicles
Responsibilities
Interact between the Business Office and other departments for all accounts payable information
Maintain purchase order records in an orderly sequence to facilitate location of specific orders
Provide “purchase order follow‑up” with vendors and within the District
Encumber purchase orders weekly to provide accurate budget information
Input completed purchase orders into the system to ensure timely payment of invoices (mid‑month and end of month)
Prepare purchase orders and claim dockets for Board of Trustees review
Reconcile statements submitted by vendors
File paid invoices in a timely fashion
Assist other department personnel as appropriate and necessary
Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance
Support the Laurel School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
