The Valent Biosciences manufacturing site located on an expansive 73-acre site in Osage, IA is a state of the art 130,000 square foot plant and is the largest purpose-built biorational facility in the world. It serves as the manufacturing and quality control center for Valent Biosciences broad portfolio of fermentation products.

Description of Job As a Production Operator at Valent BioSciences you will operate production equipment in a fermentation process which will include media preparation, fermenters, sterilizers, centrifuges, thin film evaporators, separators, and filtration equipment. In doing so, you will comply with all VBC’s policies and procedures and perform all tasks assigned in a safe manner. You will be accountable to meet quality and production expectations.

Available Shift

5th Shift - Hours 11:00 PM to 11:30 AM Friday, Saturday, Monday Nights

Key Responsibilities

Support and comply with all VBC safety and environmental training policies and programs.

Effectively operate all current and future equipment / job functions in the area assigned.

Adjust equipment with assistance from Production Specialist/ Production Engineer to achieve highest process capabilities.

Use computerized operator interface to monitor and make adjustments to critical equipment.

Work at varying elevations.

Perform minor equipment maintenance (Preventative maintenance, monitoring for leaks, etc.).

Keep a neat and clean work environment.

Complete required documentation.

Clean, sterilize and operate fermenters and filtration equipment.

Perform in-process testing.

Manually operate valves etc.

Required to walk, climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs., open and close valves, stand and sit.

May be assigned to Emergency Response Team.

Follow VBC ISO9001 quality standards.

Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.

Perform processes wearing a full-face respirator.

Preferred Qualifications and Education

High school diploma or GED.

Prefer a 2-year technical degree or related experience.

Must be able to use computerized interfaces.

Must be able to obtain an industrial truck license (require valid driver’s license).

Base Salary The estimated pay for this position ranges from: $23.56 to 28.32 per hour plus an additional $5.00/hour shift premium. Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Incentives All full-time employees are eligible for an incentive program or profit-sharing program in addition to their base salary.
