Opportunity The UCF Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a

Maintenance Technician II

position. This role is responsible for performing maintenance and preventive maintenance for RWC buildings and equipment. The position may serve as lead in the absence of the Maintenance Technician III and may be reassigned within the SSWB division to a comparable role at management’s discretion, as determined by the VP of SDES or designee.

Responsibilities

Assist the Maintenance Superintendent with ordering supplies, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient facility operations.

Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs for indoor facilities and equipment to maximize reliability and lifespan.

Maintain, repair, and replace heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing components as needed. Install and maintain electric motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical components to ensure optimal performance.

Perform repairs and refinishing of walls, floors, windows, and ceilings; assist with painting and field lining for Intramural and Sports Club programs and special events.

Provide hands‑on support for facility operations during programs, events, and activities.

Perform tasks working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and other physically demanding activities.

Adapt to varying conditions in both indoor and outdoor environments, ensuring operational readiness year‑round.

Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the overall mission of the department.

Minimum Qualifications Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Pool Operator (CPO) with hands‑on experience maintaining pools and water systems.

Knowledge of fitness equipment, maintenance and repair.

Hands‑on experience troubleshooting, building, and installing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. Experience with payroll processes and budget tracking to support operational efficiency.

Ability to interpret building plans, schematics, and technical diagrams for accurate repairs and installations.

Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Health Assessment Required The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions for Applicants

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving utility carts and vans across campus to recreation spaces.

This position requires working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and adapting to indoor and outdoor environments in varying conditions.
