County Caseworker 2 (Local Government) - Delaware County C&Y (Multiple Vacancies) Department:

Delaware County Department of Human Services, Office of Children and Youth Services

Status:

Full-time, immediate openings, multiple vacancies.

Position Overview The primary responsibility of this position is the provision of direct service to a caseload where abuse and/or neglect has been identified. Responsibilities include conducting assessments and investigations; case management; placement of children into foster homes; supportive counseling; home and money management assistance; coordination and advocacy; and referrals to increase effectiveness of services. Work is primarily conducted during home visits or in community settings and may require travel and working beyond the regular workday.

Qualifications

Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or

Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or

A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or

A bachelor’s degree supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in the listed social sciences.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal and Background

You must pass a background investigation.

Employment falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Conditional offer will require satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Work Schedule

Full-time employment.

Work hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Telework: No telework for the first six months; after 6 months and regular status, hybrid work may be available per program office schedule.
