Patient Registration Representative
The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for inpatient and outpatient registrations for the Health System. The role obtains proper patient identification, demographics and financial information to register and secure the patient encounter, performs POS collections as required, and maintains a constant focus on providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and a professional image.
Location: Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO
Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions
Perform professional, clinical and technical duties related to registration.
Monitor daily patient schedules and admit/register scheduled and non-scheduled patients.
Conduct bedside admissions for direct admits to the unit.
Obtain and verify accurate identification, demographic and insurance information; enter data accurately in the computer system.
Greet patients and relatives, conduct interviews, and recheck pertinent information.
Collect co-payments or deposits as appropriate and balance the cash drawer at the end of each day.
Explain facility policies and obtain patient consent and insurance forms, ensuring accurate documentation in the system.
Comply with Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance rules and regulations.
Complete MSPQ for admission as required.
Attend staff training or education that relates to the position.
Manage patient valuables in the safe according to department policy.
Provide coverage across admitting areas as requested.
Maintain knowledge of administrative policies, third-party coverage, and admission documentation.
Perform other duties or projects assigned by management.
Required Education and Experience
High School Graduate or GED.
Preferred Education and Experience
1 or more years of experience in clerical, registration, and/or customer service within a health care setting.
