Are you a certified technical school graduate in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or a related trade with two years of hands‑on experience in general maintenance? Chatham County Facilities Maintenance and Operations invites you to join our team as a Building Maintenance Mechanic, where you'll apply your skilled expertise in various trades and contribute to the efficient operation of our facilities.
Responsibilities
Perform skilled and complex journeyperson level maintenance and repair work in various trades, including carpentry, masonry, electrical work, painting, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Operate a County vehicle.
May use your instructional skills to supervise other employees.
Read blueprints and sketches.
Perform work that is physically demanding, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, with vocational or technical school certification in at least one of the following: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or a related trade.
Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the repair of commercial building systems.
