Job Summary The Service Maintenance Worker is responsible for all phases of landscape and grounds maintenance and construction. This position involves the complete maintenance of the campus to include mowing, edging, trimming and irrigation systems.
Responsibilities
Turf maintenance to include mowing, raking, edging, trimming, fertilizing, aerating, watering and applying pesticides to turf grass.
Assist in the maintenance of the baseball field on both east and west campuses and the softball field on east.
Maintain the East Campus athletic fields for high school games (cutting, edging, dragging, lining, trash removal, monitoring water schedule).
Maintain the West campus baseball field.
Ornamental maintenance: pruning, fertilizing, spraying, watering, planting ornamental shrubs, trees, ground covers, mulching and weeding shrub beds; planting, fertilizing, spraying, watering and dead-heading annual flowers.
Paved area maintenance: cleaning, edging, repairing walks, streets and potholes.
Litter collection and disposal.
Landscape construction: installation of new campus landscapes, planting trees, shrubs and grass, and irrigation systems.
Preventive maintenance on landscape maintenance power and hand equipment/tools.
Routine inspections, cleaning, maintenance and repair of exterior life safety elements (storm sewers, flood gates, flood control levees).
In the event of impending flood, construct sand bags, rip rap, earthen levees, enforce flood control measures and operate pumps.
Tree maintenance and take‑downs to minimize injury and property damage hazard.
Inspections and repairs of campus irrigation systems.
Storm cleanup.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Georgia Driver license in good standing.
Must attach a cover letter, resume, and a list of at least 3 professional references with contact information.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience as a Groundskeeper.
Ability to properly operate and use tools and machinery safely.
