Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/IMU position in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact RN license and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
Work in a Stepdown Intermediate Medical Unit (IMU) with 18 beds in an acute care setting
Typical patient cases include post-MI with sheath pull, ADHS, postop vascular, GI bleed, and DKA
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3
All patients require telemetry monitoring and RNs are responsible for reading strips
RNs must titrate drips such as Nitroglycerine up to 150mcg/kg/min, Neo up to 100mcg/min, and Cardene up to 10mg/hr
Uses BiPap and CPAP equipment as needed
12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
Floating to other units may be required as needed
Epic EMR is used; experience preferred
Royal blue scrubs are required for this position
Unit staffed with both a charge nurse and house supervisor, with a patient care tech available on every shift
Unit-specific orientation will be provided
No on-call or standby is required for this assignment
Only travelers who live more than 50 miles from the facility will be considered; no local travelers accepted
Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplying
Maximum traveler assignment length within the health system is one year, after which a 2-year break is required
Holiday coverage is included as part of the assignment schedule
Requirements
Active WV or compact RN license
Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a stepdown or IMU setting
Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required
Must pass EKG testing for PCU, ICU, or Stepdown units as part of onboarding
Experience caring for typical stepdown patient populations is required
