Behavioral Health Technician, Recovery House TITLE:

Behavioral Health Technician – Women's Recovery House (2nd & 3rd Shifts)

CLASSIFICATION:

Full-Time/Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Behavioral Health Techs are responsible for monitoring Serenity Spring residents and the safe transportation of residents. This duty includes ensuring residents act safely, follow rules and guidelines, and completing documentation such as the BHT Log, Service Activity Log, transportation/vehicle log, Incident Reports, and Urinalysis Drug Screens.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS:

BHTs must be alert and attentive throughout the shift, work nights, weekends, and holidays with minimal supervision, and handle high‑stress situations while interacting well with staff and residents.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Observe and document changes, unusual events, violations of rules/guidelines, and other notable incidents related to a resident’s behavior occurring during the shift; be available to residents for additional support.

Transport residents to and from support meetings and events (e.g., AA/NA, NAMI).

Provide residents with access to their controlled medications and document self‑administration.

Conduct resident house meetings to discuss internal conflicts, review rules, accept requests from residents, and review client‑oriented documentation such as schedules and recovery plans.

Develop and monitor recreational activities as assigned.

De‑escalate situations when a resident demonstrates aggressive or harmful behavior.

Provide security by monitoring Serenity Spring buildings, grounds, offices, and vehicles; conduct safety drills for potential hazards.

Process resident belongings at admission and upon return from passes.

Screen and document visitors to Serenity Spring according to confidentiality guidelines.

Participate in all scheduled employee meetings and trainings.

Perform urinalysis drug screens and alcohol swabs when residents return from passes or when substance use is suspected.

Monitor the quality of household chores completed by residents.

Review the BHT Log and coordinate services with other staff at shift change.

Answer the telephone and perform light office duties when assigned.

Respond to incidents at the recovery home and ensure appropriate reports are completed.

Help monitor residents for potential warning signs of symptom recurrence and refer them for additional support.

Check in with residents on a daily basis.

Examine the physical property to confirm all residents are accounted for, no additional support is needed, and the home is free from substance use.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and eligibility to be insured by the agency provider.

Understanding of co‑occurring AoD and MH disorders and recovery.

High school graduate.

Knowledge of RSNWO and HIPAA confidentiality law, policy, and guidelines.

Subject to a pre‑employment BCI criminal background check and subsequent checks every five years.

Subject to a pre‑employment drug screen and random or incident‑related drug screens throughout employment with RSNWO.
