Position Brand Description The Utilities / High Voltage Electrician / Instrumentation is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment in LTC utilities, including instrumentation, electrical, high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, and sewers. This role requires strong customer‑service skills and ensuring equipment and buildings remain in optimal condition across all utility locations. The electrician works alongside multiple disciplines.

Key Objectives / Deliverables

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on high and low voltage electrical equipment (13.8 KV main switchgear, circuit breakers, relays, motor starters, ground‑fault interrupts).

Perform preventive maintenance on complex electrical equipment (motor control centers, variable‑speed drives, programmable logic controllers, etc.).

Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical equipment problems and effect repairs to minimize downtime.

Perform modifications and new installations of electrical equipment (conduit, conductors, lighting, branch circuits, etc.).

Diagnose complex electrical problems to effect repairs and restore equipment/systems to operating condition.

Perform preventative/corrective maintenance and calibration on process instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, pH, conductivity, TOC, control valves, etc.).

Troubleshoot and diagnose process instrumentation equipment and make appropriate repairs to minimize downtime.

Perform modifications and new installations of process instrumentation.

Demonstrate the ability to read P&ID drawings and schematics.

Consistently comply with safety rules and follow approved procedures to ensure cGMP compliance.

Document all work following Good Documentation Practices.

Basic Requirements

Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

Basic instrumentation/electrical skills and ability to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits and equipment.

Legally authorized to be employed in the United States; Lilly does not anticipate providing visa sponsorship for this position.

Ability to work outdoors in winter and summer weather conditions.

Capability to lift 40 lbs.

Additional Skills / Preferences

Experience with utility systems – HPW, chillers, steam, compressed air, water/sewer, electrical distribution.

Associate degree in Electronics Technology, electrical license, or equivalent instrumentation/electrical work experience.

Experience troubleshooting and new installation of various instrumentations.

Experience maintaining circuit breakers, relays, medium voltage switchgear, motor starters.

Experience with a CMMS (e.g., GMARS) or similar work order tracking system.

Document work using good documentation practices.

Proficiency in basic use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Education Requirements

High School diploma, associate degree, or equivalent.

Additional Information

Hazardous operations exist in utility areas, involving caustic substances, steam, high pressures, and high temperatures.

Work schedule: 8‑hour days, Monday through Friday, with off‑hours support for 24/7 equipment operation.

Position requires working during summer and year‑end company breaks.

Awkward positions, cramped quarters, ladders, and scaffolding work may be required at times.

Completion of a Post Offer exam is required.

Compensation and Benefits Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage ranges from $21.27 to $41.25 per hour. Full‑time employees are also eligible for a company bonus, as well as a comprehensive benefits program, including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs, flexible benefits, life insurance, leave of absence benefits, and well‑being resources.
