Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Physician – Career Opportunity – Louisville, KY
Norton Children’s Radiology, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine and a part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, is recruiting for additional pediatric radiologists across multiple subspecialties. The practice currently includes fellowship‑trained pediatric radiologists, a registered radiologist assistant, specialized nurses and radiology technicians.
The program now offers two tracks of employment: an all‑clinical track with a gratis faculty appointment or an academic track through the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics. The position includes a faculty appointment at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, with opportunities for quality improvement, clinical research, translational research, medical education, child advocacy or community engagement. The Norton Children’s Research Institute offers broad support for every stage of research, including study design and statistical analysis. The academic track provides different levels of professorship with opportunities for promotion from assistant level up to full professor.
The newly renovated radiology space at Norton Children’s Hospital features advanced imaging technology:
Two MRIs and one 3 tesla (3T) MRI machine
Single‑photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scanner
Two 256‑slice CT scanners
Biplane interventional suite
FerriScan for liver or cardiac iron quantification
Fluoroscopy equipment
Advanced cardiac imaging (CT and MRI) to help diagnose and evaluate children and adults with congenital heart disease
Ultrasound elastography to evaluate for chronic liver conditions
Digital X‑ray technology that uses minimal radiation compared with older machines
Other facilities served by the team include Norton Women & Children’s Hospital and Norton Children’s Medical Center, in which a new Siemens 3T MRI has recently been installed. Access to this advanced technology and multiple campuses allows the group to grow volumes and expand in complexity.
As an integrated entity since 2020, Norton Children’s Medical Group has recruited over 100 providers, added four new accredited fellowships, expanded outreach throughout Kentucky, and increased funding from the trial drug network through Norton Children’s Research Institute.
