We are looking for Progressive Care Unit RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Cumming, GA. The right RN should have 1–2 years of recent acute‑care experience. As a PCU Travel Nurse you will care for patients who require close monitoring but are not stable enough for ICU care. You will use computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detect changes, and intervene in life‑threatening or emergency situations. Many PCU patients receive complex medications, sometimes through intravenous lines that may need adjustment or titration. The PCU RN is also called a step‑down nurse, and the unit may be referred to as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, or ER holding.
Key Responsibilities
Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
Monitor and adjust specialized equipment; interpret and record electronic displays.
Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
PCU Travel Nurses must be capable of standing and walking for long periods, bending, leaning, and stooping without difficulty. RNs should be able to lift 20 lb easily; patient lifting may require up to 50 lb at times. The fast‑paced environment requires strong stress‑coping skills and the ability to relate to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Qualifications
ACLS, BLS, NIH; minimum 2 years RN experience.
Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
