The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Caledonia that are seeking skilled Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities

Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures from raw materials.

Operate and set up a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.

Interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine specifications for tool construction.

Perform thorough inspections of finished tools and components using precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality.

Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.

Select appropriate materials, heat treatments, and surface finishes for tool components based on application requirements.

Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration on tooling and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Recommended Qualifications

Formal apprenticeship or 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Tool Maker.

Proficiency in operating and setting up manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).

Ability to accurately read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models.

Expertise in precision measurement using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMM.

Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and their properties, as well as heat treatment processes.

Bonus Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in a leading CAD/CAM software suite (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).

Experience with specialized machining processes such as Wire EDM or 5‑axis machining.

Proven ability to design and build complex jigs, fixtures, and gauges from concept.

Welding and light fabrication skills for tool repair and modification.
