Responsibilities
Complete and assure routine maintenance of buildings, grounds, and playground equipment during program breaks and as requested.
Perform minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electrical repairs in assigned facilities where a professional license is not required.
Assist with routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and maintaining equipment used in the course of work.
Carry out outdoor tasks including sweeping steps, porches, drives, maintaining parking lots, mowing lawns, and trimming shrubs and trees.
Collect information, participate in planning, and complete upgrading and minor repairs of facilities.
Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Knowledge of basic operations, tools, and terms used in building maintenance work.
Knowledge of plumbing, painting, and other light facility maintenance.
Two years of related experience and demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance, facilities management, or transportation systems.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle, and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
Must meet state health requirements, including passing a physical examination and providing verification of TB clearance at the time of employment.
Mandatory CPR and Basic First Aid certificate, which the employee is responsible to maintain for the duration of employment with Head Start.
Fingerprints must be on file with the Justice Department.
Official transcripts of educational attainment are required before an interview is granted.
