Summary Operates diagnostic sonography equipment and performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with department policy and procedures. Works within the "Practice Standards" and "Code of Ethics" of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Works with physicians to perform a variety of specialized procedures. Sets up and adjusts equipment, obtains appropriate patient information, positions patients, utilizes PPE, recognizes emergent situations, and assists other areas and shifts as needed.
Education Satisfactory completion of formal technology training.
License / Certification Registered or registry eligible by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technology in ultrasound (ARRT ultrasound). Must obtain valid certification within 12 months of graduation from an approved ultrasound training program or completion of approved cross‑training. Encourage advanced certifications. CPR Certification required.
Experience Previous experience in ultrasound preferred, but not required, or previous experience in a similar role.
Other Qualifications Must be able to lift 50 lbs., 100 lbs. shared lifting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Must be able to take call. Demonstrate ability to multi‑task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
