Summary
Under general supervision, the Customer Service Representative II ensures customer expectations are accurately determined and are fully met. The role may provide guidance to less experienced Customer Service Representatives or support specific customer(s).
Job Duties
Places customer orders via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods, or walk-in sales.
Negotiates sale price and purchase price within defined parameters to influence gross profit.
Adjusts non-contract customer pricing to meet competitive demands while maximizing profit.
Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business and process improvements.
Orders items to maintain appropriate inventory levels and manages backorders and shipment preparation.
Sources products from branch inventory, distribution centers, or suppliers and determines cost‑effective shipping methods.
Makes purchases up to $5,000 per line and $10,000 per order without approval within limits.
Handles customer returns and supports specific customers as needed.
Assists less experienced representatives with locating items and resolving problems.
Responds to customer inquiries, provides quotes, and performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Typically requires a high school diploma or GED and three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening).
Strong time‑management and multi‑tasking abilities.
Proficiency in computer use and basic negotiation skills.
Basic product knowledge.
Reliability, organization, and attention to detail.
