Overview Moraine Park Technical College is currently accepting applications for a temporary Security Officer at the Fond du Lac campus. This role involves security and safety efforts, which include loss prevention, student, employee, and public safety, investigations and parking enforcement. Please note this is a temporary, as needed position.
Responsibilities
Provide high visibility throughout the college to maintain the safety and security of the campus facilities. Promote and protect the welfare of the students, employees, and the general public.
Interact with all employees, students, and appropriate agencies on security‑related matters.
Conduct preventative patrols to monitor behaviors and to provide a security presence.
Utilize computer software to monitor camera surveillance systems, activate and provision security access cards.
Log security and safety observations, information, occurrences, and activities daily and upon request of the supervisor.
Enforce Moraine Park Technical College policies and procedures with regard to security and safety standards.
Assist with the investigation of violations of college security and safety policies/procedures, including on‑site accident investigations as required.
Assist with investigations that are in violation of state statutes and municipal ordinances that occur on MPTC property.
Provide access to buildings, offices, and classrooms, as appropriate.
Provide assistance to students, employees, and the general public, such as personal escorts and basic first aid.
Provide required support to the MPTC’s crisis response program.
Conduct required safety equipment inspections such as fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash/showers, automated external defibrillators, and first aid kits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience in security or emergency services.
Demonstrated ability to verbally defuse threatening situations.
Knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management.
Ability to take initiative, work independently with little supervision, and make sound decisions with minimal direction.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including the ability to prioritize special projects with routine assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and collaborate as part of a team.
High degree of integrity and professionalism and a demonstrated ability to respect the confidentiality of information and demonstrate critical and systems thinking.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
Desired Qualifications
Associate degree in criminal justice, security, security management, or a related field.
Experience investigating and writing detailed reports.
Experience in electronic surveillance systems.
Work Environment
Ability to perform physical labor, including properly lifting 25 lbs. consistently, up to 80 lbs. individually, and 80+ lbs. with mechanical lifting assistance such as hand cart, pallet jack, or forklift.
Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl.
Hiring Range $18.28/hour
Starting January 1, 2026
Hours / Schedule Hours vary based on needs of college. Shifts may be from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday–Thursday or 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday–Thursday.
