The Plant Maintenance Technician monitors and maintains the operation of all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, bearings, and more. The technician responds to system failures, performs corrective actions, completes or assigns repairs, and ensures systems operate safely and efficiently. This position reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform repairs in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules and OSHA requirements. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PM), diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment and components such as balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro‑magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire‑tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front‑end loaders, and building equipment. Maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog. Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and advise the Senior Plant Maintenance Manager on workload needs or when tasks cannot be completed within Standard Repair Times (SRTs). Inspect the quality of third‑party repairs or rebuilds. Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality. Manage multiple priorities and complete work under limited supervision. Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate/OSHA standards and established safety procedures. Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. At least 18 years of age. Legally eligible to work in the United States. Capable of performing physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations. Successful completion of pre‑employment drug screening, physical exam, background check (employment verification and criminal history). Preferred:

Mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand tools and power tools, and familiarity with conveyors and hydraulics. Physical Requirements

The role requires work in both indoor and outdoor plant conditions, including exposure to inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
