Job Summary and Qualifications Position Summary: Under the direction of an RN, the OB Tech provides assistance in patient care in accordance with RMC patient care standards. The OB Tech performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at Rose Medical Center. The OB Tech is responsible for the clerical, receptionist, nursing assistant, and OR tech functions essential to delivering efficient patient care in Labor & Delivery and the perinatal unit. Responsibilities include: transcribing physician orders, maintaining accurate patient and unit records, providing basic patient needs care, scrubbing in for cesarean sections and other OB-related surgeries in the L&D Operating Room, and maintaining the ORs, LDRs and perinatal rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
Position Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Colorado Surgical Technician License/Registration. Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
National Certification Required.
Experience: 2 years as an OB surgical technician preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates good organizational skills; performs procedures safely and accurately within the standards of practice; displays appropriate judgement and problem solving skills; communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers; minimal typing skills & medical terminology; must satisfactorily complete an operating room orientation and a nurse’s aide skills orientation.
