The Chickasaw Nation PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program offers two positions each year within an award-winning tribal health system dedicated to quality, compassion and community. Located in south-central Oklahoma, this ASHP-accredited program provides advanced clinical training while nurturing professional growth and cultural awareness. As part of the Chickasaw Nation Department of Health (CNDH), you’ll join a collaborative team of pharmacists, nurses and practitioners committed to enhancing the overall quality of life of the communities we serve. Here, curiosity sparks innovation, collaboration shapes practice and belonging drives excellence. Residents will practice at the highest level of their license in this Tribal Indian Health System through their required and longitudinal rotations. The goal of this residency is to provide mentorship to assist in developing the necessary lifelong skills of a well-rounded pharmacists, ultimately preparing them for any next step in their career.

The ASHP accredited postgraduate residency at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center (CNMC) provides an opportunity for residents to achieve professional competence in patient care and practice management, while further developing their clinical judgment, communication, project management, and leadership skills.

The Chickasaw Nation Department of Health includes over 2,000 health care professionals allowing our residents to form professional relationships with several disciplines. Our interdisciplinary teams provide care for patients from infancy through adulthood, in all settings. Required rotations will include Ambulatory Care, Integrated Care (family medicine, pediatrics and specialty clinics), Diabetes Care Center, Inpatient Pharmacy, Infectious Disease, and emergency Medicine.

About Chickasaw Nation Department of Health The Chickasaw Nation Department of Health consist of multiple locations including the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center (CNMC), and 3 outlying clinics located in Purcell, Ardmore, and Tishomingo. Our commitment to the highest quality health care for Chickasaws and other Native American patients is manifested in these tremendous facilities, and our continuous expansions. The Department of Health received the Malcolm Baldrige National Performance Award for Quality and Performance Excellence in 2025. As expansion continues on the south campus in Ada, OK, we are also collaborating with the Indian Health Service through a joint venture to build and staff what will be the largest and most comprehensive First American hospital in the United States. The new medical center will be located in Newcastle, OK.

The medical center in Ada, Oklahoma is a multiuse health system facility with a state-of-the-art campus that features a 72-bed hospital with embedded ICU, day surgery, OB/labor and delivery and acute care wards, Level 3 emergency department, ambulatory care facility, diabetes care center, dental clinic, diagnostic imaging center and women's health center. The tribe provides a wide variety of programs and services, including health care, education, housing and family services. The Chickasaw Nation Department of Health currently serves more than 552,000 patient visits every year, with over 1 million patient encounters in our last fiscal year. Resulting in pharmacy sites collectively fill more than 1.5 million prescriptions annually.
