CVOR Surgical Technologist (CVOR Tech) – Surgical Services Location:
Columbus, OH Duration:
13 weeks Shift:
Nights, 4x10-Hour (18:30–07:00)
Job Responsibilities
Scrub and assist in complex cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgical procedures in a high-acuity CVOR and Hybrid OR environment
Support major cardiac cases including CABG, valve replacements, EVAR, TEVAR, TAVR, VAD, and other open and endovascular procedures
Assist with vascular surgeries such as fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy, AAA repair, and aortobifemoral bypass
Scrub for thoracic procedures including thoracotomy, lung resections, and VATS
Prepare and maintain sterile fields using strict aseptic technique
Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently manage instruments, sutures, and supplies
Operate and manage specialized CVOR equipment including cell saver, fiber optic equipment, electrosurgical units, and crash carts
Assist with cardiovascular and thoracic instrument reprocessing and equipment documentation
Participate in emergency and trauma cases within a Level I Trauma environment
Follow universal protocol and time-out procedures to ensure patient safety
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours surgical needs
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years
total Certified Surgical Technologist experience (HARD STOP)
Minimum 2 years
of dedicated cardiac and vascular surgical experience
Minimum 1 year
of CVOR-specific experience
Minimum 1 year
experience in a Level I Trauma facility
Strong scrub experience required (circulating experience preferred)
Experience in CVOR, Hybrid OR, General OR, and Thoracic surgery settings
Ability to work flexible night schedules with call coverage
Required Certifications & Licensure
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – required
BLS – American Heart Association (required)
