Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Process and Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead, optimize, and scale high-automation manufacturing operations within a solar module production environment. This role oversees process development, continuous improvement initiatives, PFMEA ownership, throughput optimization, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and R&D teams. The ideal leader blends mechanical-electrical expertise, lean manufacturing mastery, and hands-on technical troubleshooting with the ability to coach and grow a team of young engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance, and cross-functional communication.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes and standards.
  • Maintain PFMEAs, VSMs, and Standard Work documents.
  • Drive Lean, kaizen, and CI initiatives to improve quality, safety, and throughput.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support production issue resolution.
  • Support NPI transitions from R&D to full-scale production.
  • Manage engineering projects including planning, timelines, and budgets.
  • Support equipment quotation, installation, commissioning, and OEM runoff.
  • Review PFMEAs, Control Plans, and technical deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with industry and plant standards.
  • Provide multi-site troubleshooting and process improvement support.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in automated, high-speed manufacturing environments.
  • Proven success in process optimization with quantifiable improvements.
  • Expertise in DOE, SPC, Process Capability, VSM, and Lean tools.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, HMIs, control documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering foundation.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead through change.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent experience (highly preferred).
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience transitioning NPIs into full-scale production.
  • Background in solar, automotive, or high-automation manufacturing.
  • Prior experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and automation upgrades.
  • Multi-site engineering or troubleshooting exposure.
