About the role
The Enphase Storage Innovation team in the office of the CTO is responsible for defining, prototyping, and supporting the next‑generation system hardware solutions for Enphase products. The team is an integrated, multi‑disciplinary group that is fast‑moving and looking for motivated individuals that can contribute and collaborate closely with the team to deliver innovative solutions. As a member of the team, you will solve some of the most exciting problems in the distributed energy space and help shape the direction of our products.
The Enphase is seeking a Staff Hardware Design Engineer to develop, integrate, and validate electronic hardware for next generation energy system products and improve current designs.
What you will do
Create innovative embedded and power hardware integration designs to support next‑generation energy system products
Specification, design, schematic capture, prototyping, and debugging of complex circuits, PCBs, electromechanical components, and electrical assemblies, power conditioning subsystems
Hands‑on bring up and performance characterization of hardware circuits, PCBs, and energy system hardware (relays, power meters, power converters, communications devices, etc.)
Apply simulation, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and prototype testing to ensure designs meet functionality and performance requirements
Support manufacturing of electronic design hardware, electrical assemblies, and PCBAs for prototype products
Using the boundary and finite element method to analyze components' electrostatics
Working with mechanical engineers to integrate the design
Who you are and What you bring
BS/MS/PhD Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or closely related discipline
Job title and position level will be determined based on the candidate’s experience.
Minimum experience: BS and 5+ years / MS and 3+ years / PhD with electronics design experience for a Senior Engineer
BS and 8+ years / MS and 6+ years / PhD and 3+ years electronics design experience for a Staff Engineer
Candidates with greater levels of experience may be considered and are encouraged to apply
Strong digital, mixed‑signal, discrete, and/or embedded hardware design skills with commercial product experience
Experience integrating complex circuits, embedded hardware, power electronics, and/or power components in commercial products
Using simulation tools to predict circuit behavior
Proficiency with one or more commercial schematic capture tools such as OrCAD Capture
Hands‑on experience building and testing electronics and electromechanical assemblies
Ability to troubleshoot hardware‑related issues within complex systems and drive solutions
Proficiency with lab equipment, including power meters, electronic loads, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
Ability to take ownership of development tasks and drive them to completion in a timely manner and with high quality to support team success
Additional Desired Skills
High‑volume energy system product development experience
Experience with medium voltage (up to 100kV) and high current circuits, PCBs, and components
Familiarity with power electronics circuits/designs and devices
Experience using OrCAD for schematic capture and Cadence Allegro for PCB layout
Focusing on providing solutions for design challenges
Travel
Occasional travel domestically.
Work location
Hybrid position (at least 3 days in the office per week) based in Austin, TX.
The base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $151,000. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job‑related skills, experience, education or training, work location, and market conditions. This position is also eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
