Warehouse Manager
Our company is at a strategic inflection point. We are a $30M omni-channel building materials manufacturer scaling rapidly toward $50M+. To handle this volume, we must transform our Tucson facility from a "scrappy startup" environment to a world-class, scalable industrial operation.
As our Warehouse Manager, you will be the linchpin of this transformation. Our logistics hub currently handles over $11M in freight annually, moving containers of raw materials and shipping complex, heavy finished goods via LTL.
We need a leader who can execute the basics flawlessly—receiving, put-away, and shipping—while simultaneously implementing Lean Warehousing principles to professionalize the facility for our next stage of growth.
The Mission: Fix the Foundation & Build for Scale
- Inventory Velocity & Integrity: Eliminate the backlog by ensuring all inbound freight is received, audited, and physically put away in its correct location within 24 hours. Implement a daily Cycle Count routine to maintain 99.5%+ inventory accuracy.
- Damage Reduction (The "Zero Defect" Mindset): Develop standard work for pallet building and LTL loading to treat damage claims as process failures that must be root‑caused and fixed.
- The 5S Implementation: Lead the facility through a 5S reset (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Visual Management: Implement visual controls (floor markings, signage, status boards) so that the flow of goods is obvious to anyone walking the floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor Supervision: Spend 80% of your time on the floor. Monitor forklift speeds, turning behaviors, and stacking techniques to ensure safety and product integrity.
- Start-of-Shift Stand-ups: Set the tone every morning by leading a daily huddle to review safety, yesterday’s errors, and today’s volume targets.
- Housekeeping: Enforce a "Clean as you Go" policy to prevent product loss and safety hazards.
- Process Builder: Write and train on "How-To" guides for receiving a container or loading a truck until the team masters the process.
- Metrics Management: Track and report weekly on the "Vital Few" KPIs: Inventory Accuracy; Put-Away Timeliness (Dock-to-Stock time); Shipping Accuracy.
Who You Are
- The "Player-Coach": Lead from the front and demonstrate practices hands‑on.
- The 5S Champion: Hate clutter and enforce organization for safety and profitability.
- The Disciplinarian: Hold people accountable, correcting deviations promptly with respect and a teaching mindset.
- The Logistics Pro: Experienced with heavy/bulky freight and understand the physics of safe truck loading.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of Warehouse Management experience, preferably in building materials, furniture, or industrial distribution, and using Lean Warehousing principles.
- Methodology: Practical experience applying 5S or Lean concepts to organize chaotic environments.
- Technical: Proficient in WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and Excel.
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
Why Us?
- Impact: You will be the architect of our logistics capability, not a cog in a wheel.
- Growth: Clear pathway to operational leadership in a private-equity-backed growth environment.
- Culture: Builders who value direct communication, accountability, and getting the job done right.
