Summary
The Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) provides a wide range of administrative and clerical support to attorneys and legal teams. This role ensures the smooth operation of the firm’s administrative functions and requires high organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The LAA collaborates regularly with Legal Support Assistants (LSAs), Legal Executive Assistants (LEAs), and attorneys on various tasks, ensuring work is properly allocated and completed on time. Flexibility, willingness to work in a fast‑paced environment, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and common legal software are essential.
Location
Washington, DC office. Hybrid work schedule available.
Responsibilities
- Provide practice‑specific support to multiple associates, partners, and attorneys, prioritizing work based on practice tasks.
- Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, communications, files, or presentations for accuracy.
- Maintain and organize electronic and paper filing systems within the firm’s DMS/repositories.
- Collaborate with other LAAs or LEAs on complex projects, mentor LSAs, and provide status updates to attorneys.
- Track assignments in the firm’s workflow tool, ensuring timely completion of tasks such as time entry and expense reimbursements.
- Oversee billing matters, including approval forms and collaboration correspondence, and liaise with the Billing Department to resolve issues.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, handling confidential matters with discretion and promoting professionalism in interactions with attorneys, clients, and business professionals.

- Strong communication in the native language via email or voice.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and legal software (e.g., iManage, Aderant, DocXTools, Innova).
- Adaptability to application upgrades and AI‑powered tools for document production, review, and case research.

- Positive attitude, ability to work under pressure, and openness to collaborate with LSAs.
- Attention to detail, strong problem‑solving skills, and prior workflow‑management experience.
- Proficiency with virtual collaboration tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Minimum Education
- High School or GED
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum Years of Experience
- 2+ years working in a legal setting under the supervision of a licensed attorney or office administrator.

Salary Range
The firm’s hiring range for this position is $36.76 – $47.79 per hour, paid hourly with overtime as applicable.
