Specific Skills Required

Job Summary

  • ITQM – Sr. Test Analyst – performed manual and/or automated testing using industry standard testing tools, standards, and methodologies.
  • Virginia Tax seeks a qualified person who works well with teams and has excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with functional and non-functional teams within IT Services and business users. The Senior Test Analyst will also coordinate UAT users, assist in preparing UAT test scripts, and contribute to a team environment, building and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, users, and colleagues.

Desired Experience and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in the following:
  • ISEB / ISTQB qualification in Software Testing to practitioner level or equivalent qualifications or experience.
  • Proficiency in implementing and executing testing strategies, plans, methodologies and frameworks in support of Agile development.
  • Experience of using test management/Version Control tools (Azure DevOps/TFS/Git) and extensive experience writing test cases in Gherkin.
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries for creating and maintaining test data to support automation testing and business users.
  • Proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, XML.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Ruby, Java, or Python.
  • Experience working in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience reviewing metrics to identify process optimization opportunities, conducting dry run/smoke tests to ensure script readiness, and executing automation scripts.
  • Gathering requirements from the Business Analyst to understand projects, analyze requirements, identify gaps, and provide LOE.
  • Providing Test Scenario/Case walkthroughs and seeking customer sign‑off, including prioritization of test cases and optimization options.
  • Deep understanding of risk‑based testing.
  • Testing defects, updating status, conducting root cause analysis of defects logged, and assisting developers in reproducing bugs.
  • Communicating effectively with both technical and non‑technical colleagues at all levels in both verbal and written forms.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills essential for dynamic collaboration with engineering teams and solving complex system problems.
