Groundskeeper - Our Lady of the Lake University

Under direct supervision, responsible for providing routine semi-skilled landscaping and care in the maintenance of the grounds. Upkeeps and cultures lawn, plants, hedges, trees, and general maintenance of grounds.

Responsibilities

• Mows, trims, and edges turf grass areas.
• Prunes trees and trim shrubs.
• Grades, seeds and lays sod.
• Grades, lays out, replaces, tends and maintains flowerbeds or other decorative landscaping.
• Installs, maintains and performs minor repairs of irrigation systems.
• Maintains walkways, driveways and parking lots to include removing ice and snow.
• Maintains grounds clean and reports broken or leaking hydrants, faulty sprinkler system equipment and any unsightly plant or material conditions on the grounds.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Applies basic and develops advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization.
• Performs more advanced functions as part of training and development.
• Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers complex issues to higher levels.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of landscaping methods and techniques.
• Familiarity in operation of equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.

Education

• High school diploma or GED is required.

License And Certification

• Valid TX Driver's License is required - must have a clear driving record.
