Summary

Assistant Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach assists in the recruitment, development, management, implementation, and advancement of competitive intercollegiate men's and women's track and field programs within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and the Department of Athletics at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). The Assistant Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach reports to the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Coach.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Teach and instruct advanced level skills, techniques, and strategies to UIS men’s and women's track and field student-athletes to achieve competitive success.
  • Assist in recruiting highly successful student-athletes who are physically and academically talented, embody good character, and strive to graduate from UIS.
  • Assist in preparation for practices, competitions, and team travel.
  • Assist with fundraising, marketing, promotion, alumni and community engagement for UIS men's and women's cross country/track and field and Department of Athletics at UIS.
  • Collaborate with athletic training staff, academic support personnel, strength and conditioning, compliance staff, and other campus personnel to enhance the student‑athlete experience.
  • Accountable for compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules, including submission of all compliance forms, adherence to all compliance policies and procedures, and attendance of mandatory NCAA rules‑education sessions.
  • Assist in coordinating camps/clinics to increase local and regional exposure of UIS track and field.
  • Attend GLVC, UIS, and Department of Athletics meetings as scheduled, hold office hours, and complete required NCAA and UIS training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the department’s strategic goals and ongoing initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Collegiate track and field coaching and/or collegiate track and field experience required.
  • Specific experience with sprints and jumps required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred.
