Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst with a strong interest in Finance and Accounting analytics to join our Data & Analytics team. In this role, you will partner with Finance, Accounting, senior data analysts and cross‑functional stakeholders to support reporting, analysis, and data‑driven decision‑making.
Responsibilities
- Work with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to understand reporting needs and assist in defining analytical requirements.
- Write and maintain SQL queries and basic data transformations to support dashboards, reports, and ad‑hoc analysis.
- Build and update Tableau dashboards and reports, ensuring they are accurate, well‑documented, and easy for stakeholders to use.
- Support recurring reporting and close processes (e.g., monthly/quarterly reports, reconciliations, variance checks) under guidance from senior team members.
- Perform data validation and basic quality checks to help ensure data accuracy and consistency across Finance/Accounting metrics.
- Assist in identifying and investigating trends and anomalies in financial and operational data and summarize findings for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with more senior analysts and data engineers to improve data models, documentation, and reporting processes.
- Help drive standardization and basic automation of recurring Finance/Accounting reports where possible.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence, or similar role.
- Proficiency with SQL, including writing queries involving joins, filters, aggregations, and basic window functions. Familiarity with dbt concepts is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience building reports or dashboards in Tableau (preferred) or Power BI.
- Exposure to, or strong interest in, Finance or Accounting data (e.g., revenue, expenses, general ledger data, financial KPIs, reconciliations).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and data quality.
- Ability to work with non‑technical stakeholders, understand their questions, and translate them into data requirements.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings in a structured and concise way.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, or FP&A teams.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) or modern data platforms.
- Basic understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and key financial metrics.
- Exposure to controls, audit, or SOX concepts is helpful but not required.
- Interest in learning Python or R for advanced analytics over time.
Benefits and Compensation
Zip is committed to a straightforward and transparent pay structure. The actual base salary will be determined by various individualized factors, including job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, location, internal equity, as well as other objective business considerations.
The annual base Pay Range for this position is $81,000 – 110,000. This range reflects our US national compensation band (USN). Additional premium percentages may apply based on our tiered premium strategy.
Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or commission awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
If hired, employees will be in an 'at‑will position', and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
