Seasonal Motor Vehicle Operator – Minute Man Historical Park, Concord, MA

Availability
Open: 12/22/2025 – Close: 01/13/2026 (Full‑time and Part‑time, 16–32 hr/week).
Location
Minute Man Historical Park, Concord, MA (167 Liberty St., Concord, MA 01742).
Responsibilities
- Assist journey‑level or higher maintenance workers with repair and construction of historic buildings and facilities (carpentry, painting, plumbing, equipment).
- Construct, maintain, and repair historic structures; prepare and paint interiors and exteriors.
- Operate motor vehicles and equipment to move materials to various locations.
- Perform electrical repairs (outlets, switches, fixtures).
- Operate equipment for loading/unloading, earthwork, and general maintenance.
- Remove and replace fence posts, cut and fasten fence boards/pickets, and rail pieces.
- Till soil; plant grass seed; remove shrubs and small trees; plant new ones.
- Assist with recurring cleaning of public and staff spaces.
- Perform routine maintenance on buildings, landscapes, and trails, making minor repairs as needed.
Requirements and Conditions of Employment
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Background investigation and favorable adjudication required.
- Male applicants must register with the Selective Service System.
- Valid driver’s license, Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, and driving record required. All state‑sealed driving records must be submitted.
- Uniform and compliance with NPS uniform standards; uniform allowance provided.
- On‑call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift work may be required.
- You must be at least 18 years old, or 16 years old and meet one of the following: high school graduate or equivalent; formal vocational training; statement from school authorities; or student employment program during school hours.
- Government quarters may be available.
- Participation in Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program required.
- Physical demands: moderate to considerable physical effort, frequent lifting > 50 lb, climbing ladders or scaffolding, exposure to weather and vehicle hazards.
Qualifications
- Screen out factor: Ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision.
- Knowledge & ability: Equipment assembly, installation, repair; technical practices; use of measuring instruments; illustration and instruction interpretation; tool and equipment maintenance; materials knowledge.
- Selective Placement Factor requires a driver’s license.
