Salary/Hourly Rate: $17‑$19 per hour
Hours per week: 20 – 40 (Seasonal, non‑exempt)

Location: Coskata Coatue Wildlife Refuge, Nantucket, MA
What You'll Do
As the Seasonal Ranger you will work as part of a team to manage visitor expectations, maintain the property, protect natural resources, and provide a safe and enjoyable visitor experience. Specifically, you will:
- Represent The Trustees in accordance with messaging from the Engagement Department
- Check all vehicles entering the refuge for permits or passes
- Report safety concerns, incidents, and maintenance needs to the supervisor
- Clean and inspect work areas, parking lots, beach, and trails
- Deliver environmental education and occasional tours
- Manage visitor complaints professionally
- Accurately report incidents according to Trustees policy
- Assist with parking and special events
- Provide assistance and information at the Wauwinet Gatehouse
- Enforce refuge rules and regulations
- Maintain the property by removing garbage, fixing fences, and maintaining signs
- Maintain trails with the team
- Clean structures as necessary
- Aid in an active nesting shorebird management program as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned, with or without accommodation
This is a seasonal, non‑exempt position (20‑40 hours per week) reporting directly to the Beach Operations Lead.
What You'll Need
- Demonstrated ability to provide good customer service
- Prior experience working and driving in a barrier beach environment
- Prior team‑work experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience driving vehicles on sand and extracting stuck vehicles
- Knowledge and experience with required tools and equipment (winches, jacks, tow cables, power tools)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Perform basic maintenance for safe operation of all vehicles, including washing and cleaning after each shift
- First aid and CPR certification desired
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift up to 30 pounds
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record (per The Trustees' driving policy)
- Satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check
