Company DescriptionOakland based boutique law firm handling all aspects of Landlord-Tenant law, including but not limited to Landlord Defense re claims of habitability, wrongful eviction, breach of lease, etc. Specializing in unlawful detainer matters (evictions) in Alameda County and surrounding areas, with working knowledge of local rent/eviction ordinances and rental registrations.
Role DescriptionThis position can be either full-time or part-time, with a flexible schedule. The position is for an on-site role of Administrative Assistant/Legal Secretary located in the Oakland, CA. As Administrative Assistant responsibilities would include providing office administrative support, such as answering/returning client calls, assisting with client intake, scheduling consultations; processing payments, updating, maintaining client files, assisting with various aspects of client billing and collections and may also include assisting with other areas of business, such as marketing, social media interface, vendor research and vendor management. As Legal Secretary responsibilities would include providing some legal support to attorneys and paralegal with e-filing, service of documents/mailings and light legal drafting, as needed. Role may evolve and is open for advancement. Salary is dependent on experience and may range from $25‑$35/hr.
Qualifications- Minimum of 1 year experience as an administrative assistant in a law firm or other legal setting or a civil legal secretary and/or a combination of experience equally one year.
- Proficiency with Clio Manage or working knowledge of other case management software.
- Prior experience with law firm billing practices and client intake procedures is preferred.
- Exceptional Clerical Skills for administrative support tasks.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and multitasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and Adobe.
- Experience with unlawful detainer is a plus.
