Full-Time Senior Secretary role at Glenview Public School District 34

Start Date

Full-time School Senior Secretary is needed starting January 12, 2026 (Grades K-5).

Purpose

To provide support to building administration, staff members, and school community (inclusive of NSSED, LICA, and all District 34 students) and act as liaison to parents, staff, central office to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the school.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the building administrators.

Location

This position works half time in two different buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist building administrator, staff, students, parents, and school community by coordinating the accurate and efficient dissemination of all information necessary to the orderly operation of the school.
  • Maintain high standards of public relations at all times with students, staff, parents, and school community.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all school, student and staff issues.
  • Assist in the operation of the school office may include: opening and closing, proper maintenance of all office equipment, answering and responding to telephone and written communications, preparing correspondence and other materials, and the distribution of mail.
  • Assist in coordinating student needs including registration, transfers and field trips, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating records including:
    • Student information database (PowerSchool)
    • Staff information and staff attendance
    • Student cumulative files
  • Assist in the typing and distribution of school newsletter, bulletins, and correspondence.
  • Assist in the maintenance of bus contracts for students in the building.
  • Assist with the coordination of transportation needs with Transportation Administrator (field trips, etc.).
  • Assist with scheduling building usage.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor – may include coverage for health office in the absence of the health coordinator and other positions as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years secretarial or related experience.
  • Strong computer and word-processing skills.
  • Knowledge of CPR and first aid a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.

Working Conditions

Full-time (1.0 FTE), 10-month position for the 2025-26 school year. The Full-Time Senior Secretary works the teacher attendance days plus 10 days before the school year, 10 days after the school year, and 5 additional days over the summer for 7.5 hours per day.

Physical Demands/Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 pound items and to push or pull heavier items. It also requires good vision, hearing, and speech for safe and effective communication. Also requires ability to provide own transportation and may include some overtime.

Salary

Not less than $20.10 per hour.
