School Nutrition Worker – Bedford County Public Schools

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to prepare and serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an efficient, clean and friendly environment, while operating the cafeteria register.

Essential Duties

  • Operate the register and receive money to put on the students' accounts.
  • Set up the display of extra items for sale each morning.
  • Assist in cooking, setting up and serving food items to students and staff.
  • Follow all established state and federal regulations and comply with all established school nutrition and school board policies.
  • Operate a variety of kitchen equipment including ovens, mixers, slicers, steamers, and dishwashers.
  • Follow all established HACCP Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining the food service facility and equipment in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
  • Assist in inventory control of food items and supplies.
  • Communicate positively with school nutrition employees, school staff, students, parents and visitors.
  • Assist manager in record keeping to include inventory, production sheets, and scheduling of daily tasks.
  • Train and assist new employees.
  • Assist washing dishes, cleaning equipment, sweeping and mopping of kitchen.
  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of food handling experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
