Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nutrition Services Aide at our UMMC - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This position is 45 hours per 2‑week period on day/evening shift.

Schedule

Week 1

• Monday – Galley Stock 6:30am‑3:00pm
• Tuesday – Float (1) 7:30am‑4:00pm
• Thursday – Traypasser (6) 4:30pm‑8:30pm
• Saturday – Traypasser (5) 4:00pm‑8:00pm
• Sunday – Traypasser (5) 4:00pm‑8:00pm

Week 2

• Monday – Traypasser (5) 4:00pm‑8:00pm
• Wednesday – Dishroom (2) 4:30pm‑8:30pm
• Thursday – Traypasser (6) 4:30pm‑8:30pm
• Friday – Float (1) 7:30am‑4:00pm

Scheduled subject to change based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion food appropriately for designated area.
• Determine correct amount of food based on tally.
• Follow recipes and portion guidelines.
• Present food on appropriate dishware per department standards.
• Complete food preparation and portioning by time deadline established for department.
• Prepare and deliver patient nourishments and tube feeding per department standards.
• Accurately place correct item on tray in proper location in accordance with department productivity standards.
• Maneuver carts safely.
• Accurately deliver and collect trays and document in a timely manner as assigned by supervisors.
• Accurately assemble and deliver floor stock supplies with appropriate label and dates.
• Handle and store food safely following HACCP standard operating procedures.
• Follow established hand washing procedures.
• Wear gloves when preparing and serving food.
• Follow department dress and personal hygiene codes.
• Follow employee health guidelines to prevent disease transmission.
• Record/document refrigerator and freezer temperatures as assigned and communicate unacceptable temps to supervisor.
• Store and label food following HACCP guidelines.
• Sanitize equipment and work area per assigned schedules and designated procedures.
• Use appropriate equipment and chemicals according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Understand and use appropriate PPE as recommended by manufacturer.
• Know locations of MSDS sheets and read and understand safety information therein.
• Gather soiled laundry and place in assigned area for pick up.
• Maintain a clean as you go attitude and keep work area clean throughout shift.
• Maintain separate clean and dirty areas in work area.
• Properly dispose of food waste and trash.
• Wash and sanitize dishes and utensils.
• Maintain proper temperatures to clean dishes per department standard.
• Document temperatures based on department standards.
• Follow proper procedure to prevent cross contamination from dirty to clean area.
• Check dishes for cleanliness.
• Store dishes in designated area.
• Serve customers in cafeterias, doctors dining rooms and other non-patient locations.
• Properly operate cash register.
• Complete transactions to meet department productivity standards.
• Count and balance cash drawer.
• Accurately handle transactions.
• Maintain department charging records.
• Greets and responds to customers’ needs with positive attitude and pleasant demeanor.
• Keep areas stocked throughout service periods.
• Complete and document assigned cleaning based on department standards.
• Demonstrate ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing using the English language.
• Basic math skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.
