Job Summary
This Family Assistance Services Worker is responsible for receiving written referrals, conducting in-home visits with families and children referred by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), assisting in the development of service plans, and coordinating services with the DHHS referring worker.

Catholic Charities West Michigan (CCWM) is a community‑based agency providing programs in Western Michigan and offering a variety of services in family preservation, behavioral health, child welfare, and community outreach.
Responsibilities
- Accept DHHS referrals
- Provide in‑home visits to children and parents
- Schedule and provide supervised parenting time visits
- Case consultation and face‑to‑face client contact
- Arrange transport for various appointments as needed
- Complete necessary documentation and follow‑ups
- Participate in sessions, reviews and meetings
- Provide 24‑hour a day, 7 days a week availability to clients
- Maintain confidential information
- Maintain a non‑judgmental positive attitude toward families in crisis
- Communicate effectively
- Work in partnership with other team members and/or service providers
- Teach and model behavior
- Work flexible 24/7 schedule as required
- Work with a diverse population
- Advocate for families
- Multi‑task, organize and meet deadlines
- Forge a mutually‑respectful partnership with individuals and families
- Provide services appropriate to families and children aged 0‑18
- Apply brief, solution‑focused therapy and strength‑based intervention strategies
- Know local resources
Education
- A minimum of a high school diploma with two years of specific prior experience working with families is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology or a related area is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with multi‑problem children and families is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
