WATER/SEWER UTILITY WORKER at Corporate Environmental Risk Management.

Full‑Time/Regular. Entry level. Location: 2800 Century Parkway, Ste. 750, Atlanta, Georgia. 100% field environment. Travel between office and project sites as required. Available for 24‑hour on‑call services during a work shift as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace water meters, water and/or sewer lines and related appurtenances.
  • Locate manholes, service connections, valves and other utilities.
  • Assist with the installation/repair of new sewer taps and/or water service lines.
  • Clear debris from manholes, water and sewer lines, sewer stream crossings, easements, valve boxes, etc.
  • Inspect and evaluate condition of systems; diagnose leaks, blockages or other problems.
  • Excavate around water and sewer infrastructure.
  • Install appropriate repair fittings.
  • Perform confined space entries into permit‑required confined spaces as needed.
  • Gather tools and equipment needed to complete work activities; pickup and transport materials, tools and supplies.
  • Perform related activities: saw cuts driveways, sidewalks, curbs, and roads during repair.
  • Assist with the preparation and restoration of landscape, property, and other areas to pre‑construction conditions that are disrupted as a result of repair work.
  • Adhere to established safety procedures: monitor the work environment and use safety equipment to ensure safety of employees, other individuals, equipment, and property.
  • Flag and direct traffic and place markers, signs and cones around the project or work site to ensure safety of crew and the traveling public; wear personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Detail oriented and able to follow safety procedures and maintain accurate records of the work performed.
  • Ability to work with others and take instruction.
  • Demonstrate the skills needed to troubleshoot, quickly diagnose a situation, and choose the appropriate action to mitigate the situation.
  • Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, odors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.
  • Ability to communicate orally.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of related work experience.

Certifications

  • Must possess and maintain within six months of hire: Confined Space Entry, Trenching and Excavation, and Flagger.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and perform strenuous tasks for hours at a time and meet physical demand requirements at levels of those for active work.
  • Must perform physical labor and move or carry related objects or materials.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of job‑related machines.

Work Environment

  • 100% field environment.
  • Travel between CERM office and various project sites as required.
  • Available for 24‑hour on‑call services during a work shift as needed.
