Medical Director, Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care – AdventHealth for Children, Orlando, Florida
Overview
The Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to lead the division of pediatric cardiac intensive care. The role focuses on expanding the Cardiac ICU program alongside our growing surgical portfolio, mentoring CICU physicians, developing quality improvement initiatives, standardizing care protocols, and engaging stakeholders within the hospital and the broader community.
Clinical time will be exclusively in our CICU, accounting for 80% of the physician’s commitment, with 20% allocated to leadership activities. This leader will collaborate with the Medical Director of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Surgery and a dedicated pediatric cardiology team of seven physicians.
The Cardiac ICU is a 15‑bed, state‑of‑the‑art unit caring for postoperative patients, with an anticipated annual volume of 250 cases. It also supports high‑volume interventional cardiology and electrophysiology critical care services. AdventHealth also operates a 22‑bed pediatric ICU with its own leadership and resident program, as well as research opportunities.
Requirements of the Position
At least five years’ experience post‑fellowship
Preferred experience leading a Cardiac Critical Care group or division
Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Critical Care
Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Fellowship or Cardiology Fellowship (preferred but not required)
Strong communication skills
Team‑player mentality

The hospital launched a comprehensive pediatric open‑heart program in 2012 and offers several destination programs, including a Level IV Epilepsy program, bone‑marrow transplants, solid‑organ transplants, and expanded NICU services. AdventHealth for Children has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the best children’s hospital for newborn care in Florida and is a magnet‑designated hospital for nursing care.
