As a Construction Project Manager at Cupertino Electric, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of construction projects and the successful management of a high-performing team. You will manage the planning, execution, and financial performance of your projects using business practices that are consistent with our company values – people, safety, integrity, innovation, and excellence. Manage and lead projects and project teams successfully from qualification, through estimate, pre-construction, mobilization, execution, and closeout. Ensure all project and contractual agreements are met and performed safely and professionally within established budgets and timeframes. Establish project execution plan and provide scheduling and coordination for each project. Collaborate with Superintendent and field team to ensure projects are completed on schedule. Identify project risks and potential issues. Develop and execute recovery action plans. Manage project financials, review and approve invoices, track budget variance, job cost, and productivity, and report on financial performance. Successfully negotiate change orders. Act as key point of contact with customers and end-user owners. Manage and develop customer and subcontractor relationships. Source and qualify new opportunities. Develop and manage a high-performance team. Provide mentorship and training to employees to ensure growth and development. Industry & Specialized Experience
Aviation & Transit Expertise:
Proven experience managing construction projects in live operational environments, such as active airport terminals (SIDA areas) or transit hubs. Low Voltage Systems Mastery:
Deep technical knowledge of specialized systems, including CCTV, access control, structured cabling (fiber/copper), public address (PA) systems, and baggage handling controls. Regulatory Compliance:
Familiarity with industry-specific standards such as FAA Advisory Circulars, TSA screening equipment deployment (SEDS), and local transit authority safety protocols. Technical Documentation:
Ability to interpret complex blueprints, riser diagrams, and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software for integrated systems. Tele Data & Fiber Optic Installations
In-depth understanding of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and NEC standards for copper and fiber systems; adept at quality control. Security & Audio-Visual Systems
Proficiency in structured cabling and integration of CCTV, access control, PA/VA systems, and smart conferencing solutions. Converged network experience, pre-functional testing, field of views, testing of door progression and hardware, and an understanding of QA/QC and commissioning plans of these systems. Cellular DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems)
Experience in RF planning, signal testing, and compliance with in-building coverage regulations. Fire Alarm Systems & Code Compliance
Thorough knowledge of NFPA72 for design, installation, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and mass-notification systems. Familiar with NEC Article760 and plenum/fire‑rated cable requirements, plus local amendments. Industry Standards & Best Practices
Familiarity with BICSI manuals such as TDMM, ITSIMM, TPMRM for structured cabling and teledata project management. Practical experience with field guides covering optical fiber best practices. Adherence to NEC, NFPA, TIA, and local building/residential codes. Permitting & Building Code Knowledge
Skilled in navigating local building permit processes for low voltage systems—especially fire alarm installations—and coordinating with DBI/plan review and AHJs. Understanding of California Electrical Code and San Francisco amendments for low‑voltage classifications, Class1/2/3 circuits, and licensed contractor standards. Additional Systems (Plus)
AV, PA, WIFI, LAN network, Data Storage/servers, Smart rest rooms, Long haul fiber, Car counting systems for garages, Nurse CALL, OSHPD experience, EVIDS and wayfinding networks, Shared use systems in aviation and kiosks, Security check points, Train control and COMMS in transit, BMS. High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred. Licensure/Certifications:
RCDD certification a plus. Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in electrical construction or related activities in a leadership role managing multi-million-dollar projects. Five (5) years of experience managing people and electrical construction projects within the commercial, utility, alternative energy, or data center markets. Driving Record:
