The Data Engineering Associate III is responsible for delivering high-quality data solutions across the Microsoft databases technical stack (mandatory). This role focuses on building and optimizing complex SQL, designing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes using SSIS/SSRS/Visual Studio, and implementing robust data warehousing architectures. The associate collaborates with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications, ensures audit‑ready documentation, drives defect management, and upholds healthcare regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA). In addition, the role contributes to strategic data architecture, governance, operational excellence, and cross‑functional enablement.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading across multiple systems and large datasets.

Perform data mapping and transformation between source and target systems to ensure accurate and consistent data flow.

Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for ETL and reporting solutions.

Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using Microsoft technologies including SSIS, SSRS, and Visual Studio to support data integration and reporting needs.

Implement and maintain data warehousing solutions, applying best practices for architecture, modeling, and performance tuning.

Create and maintain SSRS reports and dashboards, delivering actionable insights to business users.

Troubleshoot and resolve data integration issues, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery across systems.

Document ETL processes, data flows, and system configurations, maintaining clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

Log, track, and manage defects using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps; collaborate closely with testers and other data engineers to resolve issues and provide fixes.

Ensure all development and deliverables comply with healthcare regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA) and support audit and compliance requirements.

Contribute to long‑term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards; create short‑term tactical solutions and data management roadmaps.

Establish processes for governing identification, collection, and use of corporate data and metadata; track data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.

Ensure data strategies and architectures meet regulatory compliance requirements; engage external stakeholders (standards bodies, regulators, operators, research communities).

Establish governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization; develop methodologies and standards.

Support implementation of tools, software, applications, and systems to meet data technology goals; collaborate on enterprise data projects.

Analyze data‑related issues with systems integration, compatibility, and multi‑platform integration; coach/train teams and define testing criteria for fidelity and performance.

Document and track the data architecture and environment to maintain an accurate enterprise view; identify opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.

Perform data architecture design reviews; advise on cost/time/asset optimization and complex technical issues; conduct audits and define technology quality metrics.

Publish and maintain repositories of solutions, best practices, and standards; facilitate knowledge sharing and skill‑building; mentor team members and create onboarding/KT materials.

Work with customers and business owners to collect and analyze requirements (including NFRs); identify gaps and trade‑offs and define systems/subsystems for programs.

Set goals and manage performance of technical specialists and team engineers; provide career guidance and mentoring.

Identify alliance partners; collaborate to create business cases; conduct beta testing of offerings and program relevance.

Support technology consulting: analyze application/technology landscape, evaluate solution options (cost vs. benefit), and contribute to architecture roadmaps and strategies.

Drive innovation and thought leadership: participate in forums, pursue cost reduction/process efficiency, and identify reusable components/accelerators; support patent filings where applicable.

Provide sales support and estimation: contribute to RFPs, demos, and proposal development with clear value propositions and differentiators.

Assist PM/Scrum/Program Managers in identifying technical risks and mitigation strategies.

Manage stakeholders (internal/external) on architecture aspects; follow through on commitments and meet client expectations; expand professional networks at team/program levels.

Identify opportunities for new service offerings; develop business cases, co‑develop GTM (as applicable), build IP/tools/frameworks, run beta/POCs, and create GTM collaterals.
