This is an on-site role for a Nocturnist at Atlanta Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, located in Atlanta, GA. Our practice is committed to providing exceptional obstetrics and gynecologic care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Our OB/GYN practice is seeking a dedicated Nocturnist to join our growing team. The nocturnist will provide overnight obstetrics and gynecologic coverage 8:00pm-8:00am from Sunday through Thursday, followed by 10 consecutive days off before resuming the same schedule cycle.
The OB-GYN Nocturnist will provide dedicated overnight 12-hour obstetric coverage on behalf of a Atlanta Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates practice to ensure continuous, high-quality patient care while supporting work-life balance for daytime providers. This role focuses on in-house labor and delivery coverage, obstetric triage, emergent gynecologic care, and management of unassigned or practice patients presenting overnight.
The Nocturnist functions as an extension of the practice, delivering care consistent with established clinical standards, protocols, and physician preferences.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive overnight OB/GYN care, including labor management, triage, deliveries, and emergency gynecologic evaluations.
Respond to on-call needs during scheduled night shifts.
Manage unassigned obstetric patients and emergency department consults overnight.
Evaluate and manage emergent gynecologic issues as required.
Support on-call private practice physicians by assuming overnight coverage responsibilities.
Collaborate closely with labor and delivery nursing staff, anesthesia, neonatology, and hospitalists.
Provide clear, thorough handoff communication to primary daytime providers to ensure continuity of care.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Qualifications (Required)
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Active, unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility for licensure)
Eligibility for hospital privileges
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Preferred
Prior nocturnist, laborist, or high-volume L&D experience
Strong independent clinical judgment in emergent obstetric situations
Excellent communication and handoff skills
Experience working with private practice physician groups
Schedule
Overnight shifts, 12 hours 8:00pm-8:00am
Off period: 10 days off following each block of night shifts
