Project Manager ATS Industrial Automation invites applications for the Project Manager role. The role focuses on planning, monitoring, controlling, and overseeing all aspects of factory automation projects, ensuring project objectives, budgets, quality, and timelines are achieved.

Job Description As a key member of management, you will ensure customer needs are met and project quality is maintained. You will set an example of company culture with integrity and professional competence, adhering to ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, and the Employee Handbook.

In this role you will oversee automation and nuclear-related projects, handling the full lifecycle management of complex, high‑stakes initiatives with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and technical precision.

Essential Job Duties

Project Planning and Scheduling Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), incorporating engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, and commissioning phases. Define critical‑path activities and ensure alignment with nuclear regulatory timelines and automation system integration milestones. Coordinate with procurement, engineering, controls, and assembly teams to ensure timely delivery of automation equipment.

Budgeting and Cost Control Establish and manage project budgets for materials, labor, and subcontracted services. Monitor cost performance using Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques and provide variance analysis to stakeholders.

Contract and Scope Management Review purchase orders and contracts, manage scope changes through formal Change Order Requests, and maintain a revision control log.

Stakeholder Communication and Coordination Lead regular project team meetings, conduct client meetings with utilities, EPCs, and regulatory bodies, and serve as the primary point of contact for project communications.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management Ensure all project activities comply with applicable regulations and standards. Maintain a comprehensive risk register and implement mitigation strategies.

Resource and Execution Management Develop and manage manpower loading plans, oversee integration of automation systems, and ensure timely delivery and installation of components and hardware/software.

Performance Reporting and Forecasting Generate historical data and lessons learned, prepare project forecasts, and utilize KPIs and dashboards to monitor project health and performance.

Testing, Commissioning, and Client Acceptance Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and coordinate Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), document test results, and secure formal client approval.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in engineering (electronics, electrical, mechanical, or controls) and PMP designation is an asset.

Experience managing automation projects exceeding $1 million with multidisciplinary teams.

Proven leadership in coordinating multi‑disciplinary project design and construction.

Minimum three years in a leading role across varied project markets.

Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.

Working knowledge of robots, PLCs, instrumentation, controls packages, sensors, and pneumatics.

Preference for nuclear experience.

Preference for scheduling experience (MS Project, P6).

Ability to work effectively with customers under pressure-filled conditions.

Health and Safety

Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.

Do not remove or alter safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout‑tagout methods.

Report any unsafe conditions or acts, defects in equipment, accidents, or incidents to supervisors.

Use required protective equipment, attend required training, and assist in accident investigations.
